Levy with Slings for Saga

We are angry!!
Because we have no flock on our bases!! Stone him lads!
Gripping Beast Plastic Dark Age Warriors with the sling option. 12 ready to go as a Levy option for Saga. This set is excellent. A true pleasure to build and paint. Glue on an arm (but cut off the hand with weapon and replace with fist holding a sling) then glue on a head and they are assembled. The heads and faces have a lot of character and some will end up on Viking or Saxon bodies from the other Gripping Beast plastic sets. I think I may have gone into the zone of a little too much contrast on the faces with these ones. I might try for a softer transition to the highlight with the next 12 I do. The next 12 will mostly have spears and shields to be used as an Anglo-Saxon Levy unit. Saga rules allow for the Anglo-Saxons to have a unit of Levy with improved armour of 4 instead of 3 (base d6 to hit number).

  1. Very nice, great job. These plastic figures have that classic Gripping Beast pose, but excellent detail. I may have to purchase a box myself in the near future. P.S. I personally think the faces are very good.

  3. Great job, very 'earthy'... perhaps they have just stomped the grass in to mud?

  6. Thanks for the comments everyone. I think I can live with the faces now. I am just about done with 12 more with weapons and shields. They are great figures to work with.

  7. I have to say, you've done a terrific job with these guys. The textiles and skin tones are particularly good.

Dammit, now I'm going to have to get one of those boxed sets...!
